BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2011

When I got an email from the editor of the BBC Wildlife magazine telling me that this drawing had reached the final stage of the competition I was shocked and definitely surprised. 

It was the first competition I had ever entered, and I only found out the deadline date about 3hrs before it closed.  So it was, pretty much, 'pushed through the gate' right as it was closing.

I didn't think much more about it until that first editor mail arrived and, well, I was kind of a little pleased that one of my drawings got to the finals.  I missed out on achieving the 'helping Orang-utans in Borneo' holiday prize, but the comp runs every year and there are others too.
